I am trying to download this theme, but when I click ‘save website’ nothing happens?? Any help, anybody?
OK. I just figured out that certain social media plugins adversely affect how the slider works. I disabled all but the Trackable Social Media Icons Plugin, which doesn’t affect the slider. As well, I ended up changing the html a bit so that the “from our blog” section no longer appears. I replaced it with the archives section. Not idea, but it seems to have taken care of the problem.
OK, I went through all the other questions/answers, made all the changes, figured out custom fields, and I still have two major issues:
1. When I use “blog” as a category, it messes up the layout of the blog page
2. I cannot get the slider images to work.
But I’m guessing no one will answer this….
In re: the question about the Custom Values: I’m referring to the questions regarding how to get the images to show up on the slider on the main blog page.
I am thoroughly confused. How do I get that particular “custom field” value in at the bottom of my blog posts? And, something crazy happened to my blog page. It doesn’t look like your page. I have un- and re-installed the entire zip file three times, and I still get this weird looking page: http://www.lizzyscully.com/blog. Please help! I’m happy to donate. I love this theme.
I would love to get this theme to work but its not working for me – the front page – i did all the suggested changes here by others – please help!!!

I am current trying to customize the same theme and I’m having severe trouble. I have a couple of questions:
1) How do I get my post to show up in the “blog” section?
2) How do you get the images to appear in the slider?

Hi, the newbie questions again!
Question 1:
I was trying to put the list of all my post inside a page (let’s say “blog” page)…
It seems to me that the code in the blog template php file look for post category “5″, which I accidentally discover to correspond to “blog” custom category…
In fact removing the parameter in blog.php page solve my problem, and now I can see the complete list of post on my page.
Was it intentional? Is there a more user friendly way to configure how to display posts?

How to configure images for the slider on homepage?

Hi, I installed the theme, followed your read me file and I cannot get the images to show. I added the two categories and having read the responses, I added 2 posts for each category. I am a newbie to WP, so I am wondering how do I get images onto that post? I tried adding images and it didn’t show, am I missing something? Also, an earlier post showed an image of how to configure settings for a required plugin but I cannot seem to access the plugin settings via WordPress’ plugin page.

I really like «The Standard» theme but … again: to use it and donate to it I really like to know what license is attached to it. The included read me states a split license: GPL and a «Theme Forrest» license but did not specify if it’s a … (1) Regular License, (2) Extended License or (3) Personal License.
Maybe it would be a nice addition to this great collection of minimalist themes here to state clearly what license is attached to each theme — just to avoid confusion or incidents like the WordPress vs. DIY/Thesis one a few months ago.

Go to the timthumb.php search for word eregi (its in a section about not working on windows) and change it to “strpos” and then search for split and change it to explode and delete the first / that follows split on that line.
Should work now.
so it should look like this now

@chris, ahhh, I used the custom fields and still can’t get the image slider to work. I’ve tried with two posts, three posts…all with the name in the name field and the URL for the flickr image in the other. Anyone have any insight?

Figured it out! For the “Our Amazing Team” blog posts to show up. You have to enter a custom field. Name =”thumb” and value=”url to your image”
Then just type some stuff in the body of the blog post and it’ll show up next to the thumb.
Hope this helps.
@Michiel: I have this same issue. I’ve edited the index.php with my php skills, but still can’t get any of my blog posts in the “Our Amazing Team” category to show up.
Simple? … i’m really gunning for it, but it hasn’t been so.

Hey, after 3 hours of fiddling, I cannot get the sliders to work properly. Have the plugins installed
- Limit Post Add-On
- the_excerpt Reloaded
but the image in the slider fumbles after the first change, it keeps staying on the 2nd loaded image.

I have one question though. I can’t get anything in the “Our Amazing Team” section (div id=”others”) on the homepage of the theme. I created the category Our Amazing Team, placed a blogpost linked to that category, but it doesn’t show up.

Just realized, after installing all the neccesary (and sorta hard to find plugins), that the main image slider doesn’t work unless
1. You have two blog posts, both with image (name and path) put in the custom fields area.
2. You set the theme settings to display 2 or more posts from that category.
Any less than two posts and it breaks.
Hope this saves some others some frustration.

This got rid of the above error

I think the limit-posts.phps plugin i downloaded from the link mentioned above did not have header information hence it is not showing up in the plugin page for me to activate it. Also this link does not work anymore http://labitacora.net/comunBlog/limit-post.phps

yesssssss, that was the point. Thanks very much. The round corners of the sliders pictures are not shown in firefox but nice in safari (all latest).
Another Question: The .js files: Are they actual ones? Is there a chance to get the most updated ones on any recource. Or are these files made by yourself? Im asking, because it seems, that the slider does not work 100% – sometimes the placeholder for a image shows up as blank …

Take a look at these two images of the admin area of the theme:

Just upload an image and place the path of that image into the Custom Field value, with the Name as “preview”. Choose the category, and make sure that the Image Slider category is selected in the The Standard options page.
That should be it. Let me know if that helps.

That’s a superb theme, in layout and usability. There’s just a problem. One of the plugins that are needed to run the theme is no longer available. I searched every corner of internet but I couldn’t find it. =\
Thanks! I’ve been so on and off the fence over WordPress (my limited knowledge of CSS and php having a lot to do with that) and this has convinced me to give it another go and see if I can’t make it do what I want.
